Job Description:

Our client, a well-established engineering company based in Chegutu, is looking for motivated, reliable, and technically competent Boilermakers/Welders to join their team. The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out boiler making, welding, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair work within an industrial engineering environment. The role will involve working on structural steelwork, tanks, pipes, machinery, and pressure vessels while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and workmanship.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform MIG, TIG and arc welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and related materials.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel components, frames, tanks, pipes, and pressure vessels according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Cut, shape and bend metal using hand tools, grinders, cutting torches, and mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, structures, and machinery.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and job specifications.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
  • Work effectively with other trades and departments to meet project deadlines.
  • Be willing to travel to various sites around Zimbabwe when required for installations.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Class 1, Class 2 or Semi-Skilled Boilermaker/Welder trade certificate or equivalent recognised qualification is preferred but not essential.
  • Minimum 1–3 years' practical experience in boiler making, welding or heavy fabrication.
  • Experience working from engineering drawings is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of welding techniques and fabrication processes.
  • Competent in the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Physically fit and able to work in varied site conditions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to work Monday–Friday and alternate Saturdays.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
