GENERAL MANAGER – MINING OPERATION

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic General Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our operational mining site. Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will provide executive leadership, operational management, and strategic direction to ensure production targets, budget constraints, safety standards, and ESG requirements are consistently met or exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee full site operational management, production planning, processing, and engineering activities.
• Develop, manage, and optimize annual capital and operational budgets (CAPEX/OPEX).
• Ensure strict adherence to statutory safety regulations, health policies, and environmental standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processing efficiencies, recovery rates, and cost containment.
• Lead, mentor, and build high-performing multidisciplinary teams across operations, technical services, and logistics.
• Manage key external relationships with local community stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and government agencies.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, or equivalent technical qualification from a recognized institution. Master's degree or MBA is an added advantage.
• Overall Experience: Minimum of 20 years' progressive experience within the mining sector.
• Management Experience: Minimum of 5 years' proven track record in a General Manager or senior operational leadership capacity.
• Commodity Experience: Strong background in precious metals, specifically gold mining operations (open-pit and/or underground processing), is strongly preferred.
• Solid track record of managing large-scale operational budgets, technical teams, and complex site logistics.
• Deep knowledge of mining legislation, SHEQ standards, and modern extraction/processing methods.
