POSITION: Operations Manager – Mining

LOCATION: Various Site Locations, Zimbabwe

REPORTING TO: General Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day mining and processing operations across our sites in Zimbabwe. Working closely with the General Manager, you will drive operational efficiency, production targets, and cost discipline while ensuring full alignment across the entire mining and processing value chain.

This role requires a hands-on, well-rounded leader who balances technical expertise with strong financial oversight and team leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Production & Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day site operations to meet production, recovery, and operational performance targets.
  • Value Chain Management: Oversee integration between extraction and processing operations to optimize throughput and efficiency.
  • Financial & Commercial Control: Drive cost management initiatives, monitor operational budgets, and maximize site profitability.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage multi-disciplinary site teams to foster a safety-first and performance-driven culture.
  • Strategic Support: Partner with the General Manager to implement operational strategies, continuous improvement plans, and risk management frameworks.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 10 years of operational experience in the mining sector, with a proven track record in senior operational or production leadership roles.
  • In-depth understanding of the end-to-end mining and processing value chain.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in managing operational budgets, unit costs, and site efficiency.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a track record of driving cross-functional site performance.
  • Practical, hands-on operational mindset suited to dynamic site environments in Zimbabwe.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or Higher National Diploma in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related operational discipline.
  • Formal qualifications in Business Administration, Commercial Management, or Finance (e.g., MBA, Post-Graduate Diploma) are highly advantageous.
  • Active membership or registration with a recognized professional engineering or mining institute (e.g., Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy - SAIMM, or equivalent).
  • Valid Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (or equivalent regional operational certification).
